“Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” (John 19:26-27)

The above verse from St. John’s gospel is a touchstone for Catholics. Catholic Christians are invited to put themselves in disciple John’s shoes and follow Jesus to His cross. A Christian who is received into the Catholic Church is boarding the new Ark of salvation which has Christ as its pilot rather than Noah.

I truly believe Jesus sent his mother for me to put me on the ark, she is a co-worker [1 Cor 3:9] with her Son in the work of salvation, that is why she is worthy of honour and respect and why Catholics refer to Mary as Our Lady.
